Vincetta Ann (Varo) Wieczkowski, currently of Titusville, PA, completed her journey on earth Monday, October 30th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent Joseph and Pauline Varo; sisters Marie Crouch, Anna Conti, and Josephine Barber; brothers, Samuel Varo and Russel Varo; as well as former husbands Frederick W. Wieczkowski and Ronald E. Haight.
Vinny is survived by her children: Celine Sterling (Ken) of Titusville, PA; Frederick Wieczkowski Jr. (Regina) of El Paso, Tx; Tamara Stuck (Jon) of Cranberry Twp, PA; and Patricia Nutt (Fred) of Erie, PA; grandchildren Amanda West (Josh) and Kenneth F. Sterling; André Wieczkowski and Alexander Wieczkowski; Kathryn Stuck Boyd (Nate), Erica Stuck Helton (Rob), Curtis Stuck; and Sarah Hersch (Keaton), Meghan Nutt, Rachel Nutt, and Madeline Nutt; as well as 11 great grandchildren.
A graduate of Academy high school in Erie, PA., Vinny eventually settled in Corry, PA. She worked in various industries, most recently Blair in Warren, Pa, prior to retiring to spend more time with the grandchildren she loved so dearly.
Vinny enjoyed a vibrant social life with her friends; dancing, playing cards and Bingo. She loved singing to Elvis and Dean Martin, angel figurines, the color blue and her Cadillac (two quick honks of the car horn to say goodbye). There was always an open seat at the kitchen table and a sandwich for anyone who walked through the door. Vinny's Fourth of July bonfires attracted friends, family, and neighbors, alike, stretching late into the night, always ending with hugs as her guests departed, never empty-handed.
Whatever came her way, Vinny proved she was a force to be reckoned with. (If you've ever tried to politely refuse one of her sandwiches, you understand.) She lived her final years soaring like a kite, still with a twinkle in her brown eyes like she might be up to something. She sailed along as the flow of memories pulled her in so many directions. There were moments when the winds were calm and the journey was peaceful; there were times when fearsome, turbulent storms rolled in, causing a struggle and carrying her into a place she couldn't quite be reached. She held on, as she drifted so very far away—unable to remain in the present, longing for those calm, familiar winds. Her family held on to the string, gently pulling and guiding her, keeping her safely sailing in the calmest breeze possible, anchored by loving caretakers and an amazing medical community.
Please be kind to those with memory issues and their caretakers and know there is help available. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
Visitation will be at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Thursday, November 2nd from 6 to 8 pm.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Erie.
