Virginia L. “Babe” Dow, 92, of Hydetown, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born on March 18, 1932 in Titusville, PA, a daughter of the late Howard and Clara Herman Carter. She was married to Harold “Bud” Dow on February 17, 1951 in Titusville. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2020.
Virginia had been employed at the former GTE Sylvania in Pleasantville, PA and at the former Union City Boat Factory.
Virginia had a smile for everyone no matter how she felt. She enjoyed going to McDonalds with her lady friends, going to garage sales, watching her birds, family gatherings, traveling annually to Colorado with her husband, watching her grandchildren, and her special pets, “Norkay” and “Coco Puff”. She was a former member of the ladies bowling league at Lin Van Lanes.
Virginia is survived by her children, Gary Dow and wife Chanee of Titusville, Penny Porter and husband Alan of Meadville, and Debbie Steinberg and boyfriend Jay Taylor of Titusville; a son-in-law, Bob Baker of Titusville; 7 grandchildren, Scott Pringle, Ben Pringle and girlfriend Julie Biedenharn of Richmond, VA, Matt Dow of Raleigh, NC, Chance Dow of Memphis, TN, Chad Porter and wife Megan, Ryan Porter and wife Cassie both of Meadville, Tiffany Willard and husband Matt of Los Angeles, CA; 9 great-grandchildren, Elsa, Emme, and Everlee Pringle, Cayley, Addyson, Olivia, Brielle, Sadie, and Maverick Porter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Baker; a brother, Howard T. Carter, Jr.; an infant sister and two sisters, Iva Schneider and Janet Parkin
. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Thursday, September 12th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Bob Hawk officiating.
Interment will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery.
