Wanda L. Proper

Wanda L. Proper, 69, of Townville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Meadville Medical Center.

Wanda was born on November 5, 1954 in Union City, PA, a daughter of the late Marlowe and Betty Wellman Wilhelm. She was married to Timothy Proper on July 12, 1980 in Little Cooley. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2019.

Wanda was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1972.

Wanda was well known for her baking, especially her cookies and had baked Wanda’s Cookies for over 50 years. She had also worked previously at the former Porter’s Place in Chapmanville making ice cream and also at Behrend College as a cook until her marriage.

Wanda was a member of the Little Cooley Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She had been active with the 4H and Dairy Princess Promotion Team. She enjoyed her cooking, baking and her garden.

Wanda is survived by her children, Timothy “TJ” Proper and wife Stephanie, and Jearetta Proper, all of Townville; grandchildren, Penelope, Adelina and Dean Proper; a brother, Wilford Wilhelm and wife Marlena of Centerville; sisters, Martha Johns and husband Larry of Cambridge Springs, Jeanette Wilhelm of Centerville, and Loretta McIver and husband Mark of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Friday from 6 to 8 PM. Further visitation will be held on Saturday at the Little Cooley Church 32732 Teepleville Rd. Centerville, PA 16404 from 1 to 2 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Harry Zurasky officiating.

Interment will be in Chapmanville Cemetery.
