Willard L. Oakes, 93, of Titusville, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Willard was born in Titusville on November 12, 1931, to the late Glenn L. and Gladys Jamison Oakes. He married Evelyn M. Olson in 1968 at the Titusville First Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2024.
Willard graduated from Colestock High School, Class of 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He entered the service on March 26, 1953, in Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on March 3, 1955, at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey. During his time in the Army, he served as an MP and was stationed in Panama.
He worked as a Field Operator for National Fuel Gas for many years, retiring in 1989.
Willard was a member of the Titusville First Methodist Church.
He enjoyed bowling, running 10k races in his younger years, traveling on bus trips with his wife, and attending social events.
Willard is survived by a brother, Duane Oakes and wife Martha of Titusville; a sister-in-law, Henrietta Olson of Erie; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Oakes and his wife Caroline; sister-in-law Doris Jean Olson; and brother-in-law, Malcom ‶Mel″ Olson.
A private service will be conducted for the family at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354.
The family asks that memorials be made to the First Methodist Church 302 W. Walnut St. Titusville, PA 16354.
