William "Bill" Britton, 70, of Townville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Meadville Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Bill was born on December 1, 1953, in Meadville, a son of the late Glen and Letha Fisher Britton. He married Bonnie Mallory on October 2, 1976, at Troy Center United Methodist Church.
He was a graduate of Meadville High School, Class of 1972. He also attended Crawford County Technical school.
He worked as an auto mechanic and road crew member for West Mead Township. He served as a deputy game warden in the Pennsylvania Game Commission for over 15 years. At the age of eight he started working at his father's business, Glen's Keystone Gas Station, he would help manage the store when his father was away.
Bill was formerly a Boy Scout, Cub Scout and 4-H Leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing on Lake Erie, boating, and being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He loved fixing up classic cars, riding motorcycles, ATVs, and watching NASCAR. His favorite day of the year was always the first day of deer hunting season.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bonnie Britton; his son, Dr. Garrett Britton and wife Amber of Troy Township; his daughter, Meghan Purcell and husband Brian of Erie; and 4 grandchildren, James Britton, Jackson Britton, Willam Purcell and Emma Purcell; his brother, Rex Britton of Cambridge Springs; a brother in law, James Mallory Jr. and partner Danette of Troy Twp.; a sister in law, Joyce Mallory and partner Jim Raybuck of Troy Twp.; and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Britton Andrews.
No public visitation will be observed. A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
