William Hanley Obituary

   William "Bill" L. Hanley, 90, of Centerville passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at his residence.

   Bill was born on March 10, 1932, in Buffalo, NY to the late Edward H. and Hazel (Hicks) Hanley. He married Joy Preston on January 26, 1958 and were 2 month shy of 65 wonderful years together.

   He attended school at Red Oak near Buells Corners, Farrel Farms on Spring Creek and in Canonsburg, PA.

   Bill was a veteran of the US Army. He entered the service in 1949 at Ft. Dix, NJ and was assigned to the 61st Heavy Tank Battalion. He was honorably discharged in 1951 from Gettysburg with the rank of PFC.

   He was formerly employed by the City of Titusville, Cyclops Specialty Steel Corporation as a truck driver from 1952 until his retirement in 1992. He then went to work for Klapec Trucking in Oil City for several years.

   Bill was a member of Grace Fellowship Church.

   He loved being on the water boating and water skiing, rooting for the Steelers, camping, hunting, traveling with his family and spending many winters with Joy in Brooksville, FL.

   Bill is survived by his wife Joy Hanley of Centerville; his children, William Hanley, Jr. and wife Martha of Ontario, NY, Tammie McCray of Centerville, Cheryl Armstrong and husband Randy of Titusville, Sheila McCray and husband Douglas of Corry, Brian Hanley and wife Susan of Saegertown; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Smith, Jean Wise, Anna McLamore, Doris Lovejoy, and Shirley Dilley.

   He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Jones; a son-in-law, Ronald McCray; a brother, Harold Hanley; and sisters, Mable Antill, Florence Antill, and Loraine Hanley.

   Visitation will be on Thursday, December 1st from 11 to 1 pm at Grace Fellowship Church 2 McKinney Rd., Titusville, PA 16354 with the funeral service to follow conducted by Pastor Phil Taylor.

   Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Abundant Joy Fellowship 411 E. First Ave., Tarentum, PA 15084.
